Now that America has finally heard all of the top twenty-four semifinalists sing at least once, who has the best chance of making the top twelve? While there is always the chance that someone new might have a breakout performance over the next two weeks, it’s not difficult to pick out some pretty close to definite top twelve finalists at this point. Here are my predictions for who will make the top twelve finalist of American Idol 7.
First, here are seven who I think will definitely make the top twelve finalists.
Michael Johns – This guy comes across as a pro singing among a bunch of amateurs. While he is in danger of the “everybody thinks he’s safe so they forget to vote for him” phenomenon, he is as close as you can get to a sure thing for the top twelve.
Carly Smithson – While there has been a media backlash over her previous record deal, there is no denying that she is an incredible singer. Besides if the conspiracy theorists are correct, she will make the top twelve even if nobody votes for her.
Jason Castro – You know that one guy every year whodoesn’t get any screen time but wins America over anyway based on pure talent. For American Idol 7, Jason Castro is that guy.
David Archuleta – You know that really young singerwho people underestimate but who winds up out singing most of the older singers. For American Idol 7, David Archuleta is that young singer.
Alexandrea Lushington – You know that really young singerwho people underestimate but who winds up out singing most of the older singers. For American Idol 7, there are two of them.
Amanda Overmyer – Last season, American Idol was light on strong rock singers. This season, American Idol has Amanda.
Robbie Carrico – Last season, American Idol was light on strong rock singers. This season, American Idol also had Robbie.
Here are five who I think have a good shot at making the top twelve if they don’t have a major off-performance in the next two weeks.
Ramiele Malubay – She has one of the best voices among the girls, and the judges seem to love her. The combination of the two is usually a good indicator that a contestant will make the top twelve.
David Cook – While David might be trailing Robbie in the battle of the male rockers, he is still one of the best singers among the male semifinalists.
Danny Noriega – Who cares if Simon Cowell didn’t like his performance? Danny gave one of the most energetic and exciting performances of the top twelve boys’ performance show. Danny may not be the best singer, but he just might be the best entertainer.
Brooke White – There are several strong female singers, who are fairly close together when it comes to talent level. Since talent is close, voters might look to personality. Brooke is one of the most likable contestants in the competition.
Asia’h Epperson – What I just said about Brooke, also goes for Asia’h. After hearing the sad story of her losing her dad before her audition, viewers can’t help but hope that she does well. It also doesn’t hurt that she is one of the most energetic and exciting performers in the competition.
