When Big Brother contestant, Adam Jasinski, made an off-hand comment about autistic children, he caused a media firestorm.
In a recent episode of the show, Jasinski called autistic children “retards,” and claimed it was okay for him to call them that because works with them.
Er…he used to anyway.
According to The New York Post, The United Autism Foundation has given Jasinski the boot in response to his verbal misstep. The Foundation, which has an official apology for the star’s behavior up on its homepage, had this to say about his firing: “Mr. Jasinski will no longer work for or represent the United Autism Foundation since he caused tremendous damage to UNIAF.”
After Jasinski’s comment, at least one advertiser pulled its airtime during the series and several autism organizations have called for the show to be cancelled altogether.
Big Brother airs Tuesdays at 9:00 PM (ET), and Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 PM (ET) on CBS.
