Billy Ray Cyrus, country music star and co-star (alongside daughter Miley) of hit show Hannah Montana, announced last night on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno that he will be two-stepping into the reality TV scene this summer as host of the upcoming season of Nashville Star.

“This year it is all about the dream, about the music, about persistence and never giving up faith. Putting the music first,” Cyrustold Tonight Showhost Jay Leno,”You know I’ve been to the fair and I’ve seen the bear and I am really excited.”

Cyrus first Achy-Breakied his way onto the country music scene in 1992, and has since released 10 albums. His most recent chart-topper has been a father-daughter duet titled “Ready, Set, Don’t Go,” which he recorded with his superstar daughter Miley. Cyrus is currently working on a new album which will, probably not coincidentally, be released this summer.

Nashville Star is a grassroots talent search to find the next great country music star. Past winners of the show have gone on to lucrative careers, as the winner of the show receives as their prize a recording contract with Warner Bros. Nashville.

Nashville Star is still currently casting for its next season, with stops in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Austin, and Nashville still on the agenda.

You didn’t post that he also was on tv show “Doc” on pax tv for many seasons. Was a great show. So Billy Ray has been on tv alot. He may not have been a dancer on Dancing with the Stars, but he can act and sing! I am a fan of his and he is a good ole boy with good values and seems to be raising his daughter up right. Even though soon want to knock her down for anything they will.I hope she makes a good life for herself and don’t let all the fame go to her head as it has so many in the past year or so.I say GOOD LUCK TO BOTH HIM & HIS DAUGHTER!!!!
