For those who watched Monday night’s episode of FOX’s new game show, Moment of Truth, you might have found yourself wondering how contestant Lauren Cleri’s marriage could last after the answers she gave.
Cleri has told The New York Post that the questions she encountered on Moment of Truth (and the answers she gave) have split up her marriage, calling her union with New York police officer Frank Cleri, “Kind of up in the air right now.”
Moment of Truth is a bare-all game show like none ever seen before, where contestants areasked tough personalquestions while hooked up to a lie detector backstage and then brought in front of the camera (and a live audience.Oh yeah, and their families and friends) to answersome of the same questions again. Some of the past questions have included, “Would you cheat on your spouse if you knew you wouldn’t get caught?” or”Have you ever stolen money from your place of employment?”
Cleri’s questions cut much deeper, however. She revealed that she had slept with another man while married to Frank, was still in love with her ex-boyfriend on her wedding day, and that she feels she really should be married to her ex (the ex actually made an appearance on the show to ask that question).
Cleri insists that she didn’t go on the show to end her marriage, and tells the Post that she wants to get back together, but Frank doesn’t want to. Frank tells reporters that he knew about his wife’s cheating, but wasn’t prepared for the turmoil that has surrounded him since the show was taped.
In a perhaps-cruel twist of fate, the Cleris came away from the show with no prize money, when Cleri’s answer to, “Do you think you’re a good person?” (she answered “yes”) turned up false according to the polygraph.
Moment of Truth airs Wednesdays at 9:00 PM (ET) on FOX.
