Oprah’s Big Give challenges ten people to help change the lives of complete strangers. The show is hosted by Oprah Show regular Nate Berkus. The contestants include an Iraq war veteran, a former male model and international disaster relief worker, a 22-year-old dot-com millionaire, a former girl gang member, a paraplegic TV producer and a pageant queen.
On the series premiere of Oprah’s Big Give, Oprah Winfrey gives sealed envelopes to ten contestants. The envelopes contain the name and picture of a complete stranger. In just five days, the contestants must give big in order to change this person’s life.
It will be up to the contestants to best utilize their resources in a creative way to make a real impact. At the end of the first challenge, the contestants will go in front of a panel of judges that include “Naked” chef and philanthropist Jamie Oliver, NFL star, nine-time Pro Bowler and Boys & Girls Club Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez, and wife of Chris Rock and charity founder Malaak Compton-Rock.
The judges will evaluate the contestants based on their leadership, accomplishments, creativity and presentation. One person will be eliminated from the competition. Oprah’s Big Give airs on Sunday, March 2 from 9 PM to 10 PM ET on ABC.
