American Idol: Simon Cowell Makes Rude Comment About David Hernandez Stripping

David Hernandez

By now, most American Idol fans have likely read reports that David Hernandez use to be a stripper at a male strip club. While rumors initially buzzed that Hernandez could be disqualified, American Idol executive producer Ken Warwick set the record straight.

Warwick told TVGuide.com, “The truth is we’re never judgmental about what people do to earn a living. They’ve gotta put food in people’s mouths. We’ve had strippers on the show before,We’re never judgmental about people who do things like that. If it were some sort of heavy porn, then maybe we’d have to take action. But certainly not on this.”

Usually, controversies such as these are ignored on the American Idolshow or only vaguely addressed. However, during the most recent American Idol boys performance show, it sounded as if a microphone caught Simon Cowell making a ratherrude comment about the stripping controversy.

After David Hernandez sang “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now,” the audience erupted in applause. The applause made it difficult to hear, but a voice that sounded like Simon Cowell could be heard saying something about stripping. After repeated reviewing of the audio by Reality TV Magazine, it sounded as if Cowell said, “Say, I liked the way you stripped to that.”

Our guess isthe comment was made by Simon Cowell to Paula Abdulin order tosarcastically suggestwhat she should say in regards to David Hernandez’s performance. The comment could be heard during the East Coast broadcast of the show, but it is unknown if it will be cut out of the West Coast broadcast.

We caught it here on the West Coast, too. My son and I thought we heard something odd… could swear we heard “strip” being said… so we replayed it a few times. Your version of what Simon said seems pretty accurate.
