Dinner-Impossible-Courtesy-Food-Network“I met people with all this money, it was like trying to keep up with the Joneses. I was sitting in a bar one night and that came out. It was stupid,” said Robert Irvine in a recent interview.

The Food Network star was referring to lies that he’d told regardingthe resume that landed him the job on Dinner: Impossible. Lies that ultimately have cost him his job as star of Dinner: Impossible.

Irvine has now admitted to lying about his claims that he was a knight who’d cooked for the Royal Family, including making Charles and Diana’s wedding cake.

His claims of grandeur have stretched to this side of the pond as well, as he’d also lied that he’d cooked for four U.S. presidents, including George Bush, Sr., George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Ronald Reagan.

After Buckingham Palace denied his claims, Irvine was forced to cop to the lies. As a result, the Food Network has given him the boot, agreeing to complete production of the current season, but not renewing his contract when it’s over.

Irvine insists that he’s proud of his accomplishments, but agrees that he should not have embellished on those and says he’s “truly sorry.”
