Last year, Ellen DeGeneres did a phenomenal job co-hosting Idol Gives Back with Ryan Seacrest. The generous talk show host also donated $100,000 of her own money during the show to help the cause. This year, Ellen DeGeneres is once again returning to co-host Idol Gives Back.
“Everyone knows it’s better to give than to receive,” said DeGeneres. “That’s why I want to give you some advice. You get the advice and I get the joy of giving – it’s a win-win. Here it is: Give yourself a treat and watch Idol Gives Back. Again, you get the joy of giving and an amazing line-up of artists get to give us an incredible show. Last year, we were able to giveaway over $76 million. You give, you get. Get it?”
Idol Gives Back is a musical celebration put on by American Idol in order to raise awareness and funds for various U.S. and international charities. Reality TV Magazine recently reported on the charities that will benefit from this year’s show.
Reality TV Magazine also previously reported that some of the stars who have agreed to take part in this year’s Idol Gives Back are Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Fergie, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Annie Lennox, John Legend and Snoop Dogg.
Fox has now announced some additional stars who are participating, including Maroon 5, Heart, Gloria Estefan, Boyz II Men and The Clark Brothers. Reality TV fans might remember The Clark Brothers as the very talented group who emerged as the winners of The Next Great American Band.
While Ryan Seacrest will host from the American Idol stage in Los Angeles, Ellen DeGeneres will co-host from the Kodak Theatre. Idol Gives Back airs on Wednesday, April 9 from 7:30 PM to 10 PM ET/PT on FOX.
