American Idol’s David Archuleta Swears “You’re the Voice” Was His Choice!
March 27, 2008 08:32 AM by Allison_Yagesh
Lay off already, Simon! David Archuleta swears his latest song choice was his choice, and he’s stickin’ to it!
During this week’s performance, Simon Cowell made a comment that he’d “be surprised” to find that Archuleta’s song choice of John Farnham’s “You’re the Voice” was chosen by the young Idol singer himself. The comment was clearly a nod to recent rumors that Archuleta’s father, Jeff, is an ultra-tough “stage dad,” who ruleshis sonwith an iron fist.
Rumors contend thatJeffwas a tyrant when David was a contestant on Star Search — so much so that he was eventually banned from the lot. And, according to Star Search “sources,” the elder Archuleta even harassed his son’s Star Searchrival, Tiffany Evans (who eventually went on for the win over David).
But regardless of what people might be surmising, David insists that”You’re theVoice” isone of his “favoritesongs,” and he’s “confused” why there’s any speculation that he might not have chosen the song himself.
