ABC_LogoAs Reality TV Magazine recently reported, the hit Disney television movie series High School Musical is becoming a reality TV series on ABC. The series is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, July 20 from 8 PM to 9 PM ET. It will run on Sundays and Mondays from 8 PM to 9 PM ET for the first three weeks, before continuing on Mondays at 8 PM ET through mid-September.

ABC has also announced a nationwide casting call for this new Summer reality series. The High School Musical Summer Session producers are looking for applicants between the ages 16 and 22 who dream of taking center stage. The producers are not just looking for drama club members, but they also are looking for the high school quarterback or the chess club member who might never even have tried out for a play.

The producers will narrow down the applicants to a group of finalists, who will take part in a Summer music program. One winner will be selected to have the opportunity to become part of the High School Musical family. However, all the exact details of the grand prize that the winner will receive have not yet been announced.

Two open casting calls will be held. One is scheduled to take place in southern California at a yet to be announced date and the other is scheduled for Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida on May 7. These two auditions will be part of some of the early episodes of the series. In addition to the two open casting calls, casting scouts will also visit other areas of the country looking for talent to bring to the auditions.
