The Bachelor: Holly, Kelly, and Ashlee Go Home…

April 08, 2008 09:36 AM by Jennifer_Brown

Matt-Ashley-Courtesy-AdamLarkey-ABCHost Chris Harrison greets the remaining Bachelorettes, telling them that the game is about to step up a notch. This week, in addition to the group date and the one-on-one date, there will also be a two-on-one date, where two Bachelorettes will go on a date with Matt — one will come back with a rose, and the other will go home.

The group date is quickly revealed. Kelly, Chelsea, Shayne, Noelle, Robin, and Ashlee will be going to a private estate with Matt for tennis and an afternoon tea. Ashlee proves to be the best on the court, but it’s Chelsea who’s catching Matt’s eye. “Chelsea looks ridiculously hot today,” he says. Shayne, who’s not so impressive on the court, shows off her gymnastics talents for Matt, causing some of the girls to gripe. But Matt’s interested in alone time with Ashlee today. While Ashlee “mesmerizes” Matt with a song and a kiss, the rest of the girls sit back and diss Ashlee for being “like a baby sister.”

During tea, Robin steals the show, pulling out her inner Brit and showing off her tea knowledge. “I could care less, to be honest,” Kelly gripes. Robin steals Matt away once again for alone time and they sit on a dock together. Matt’s cracked up by Robin’s “Britishness,” and is surprised when Robin admits that she’s falling for him. Back at the table, the girls criticize Robin for monopolizing Matt’s time again. When Robin comes back, Shayne gets her alone and tells her that she’s being unfair to the others. Robin tries to defend that she’s not in the game to play fair, but she bursts into tears. “It just hurts to know that I’ve hurt people,” she cries.

As the group date comes to an end, Matt grabs a rose and presents it to Chelsea. “You continue to charm me with your beautiful nature,” he says. “I didn’t expect this one at all,” Chelsea cheers.

Back at the house, the girls have gotten word that Amanda will enjoy this week’s one-on-one with Matt. She gets “the meeps” while preparing, but is determined to show Matt the “hot, bad side” of her. Matt shows up in a leather jacket, feeling “like The Fonze,” and whisks Amanda away on a 1955 date. They go to a ’50s diner and enjoy cars, burgers, and dancing. Amanda says Matt is “the worst dancer ever,” and they laugh while she tries to show him some moves. Before moving on to their next destination — a pier amusement park — Matt offers her a rose. “The more I learn about you the more I realize that we have so much in common,” he says. They kiss, and then kiss again at the top of a Ferris Wheel at the amusement park.

Meanwhile, Marshanna and Holly have realized that they’re the two to go on the two-on-one date. “I might as well pack,” Marshanna gripes, and then throws a tantrum — crying, arguing with Robin, and throwing things.

She and Holly head out for their date, and everyone (including Matt) is nervous. Matt says both ladies hold characteristics that he’s looking for, but now he’s looking for who will be really willing to travel to the U.K. to be with him. Both girls plead their cases, and then Matt takes them each aside one-on-one for some “clarity.” Things look comfy between Matt and Holly, and after she lays it all out for him, they kiss. He kisses Marshanna as well.

At the end of the evening, he says, “This is very, very difficult for me,” but insists that there’s one woman who he feels a stronger connection with. He gives the rose to Marshanna, sending Holly home. Matt reports that he feels “shattered and emotionally drained,” and explains to Holly that, physical attraction aside, he felt that conversation between the two of them was at times “difficult.” “It’s like a state of shock that I’m in right now,” Holly cries in the limo. “…I feel stupid for putting my heart out there.”

The girls are shocked to see Holly go home, and a weird vibe prevails in the house, coming into the rose ceremony. Everyone’s nervous and feeling like Matt’s decision could be unpredictable. Matt comes into the house somber, and is tough on the girls — questioning them hard.

He asks Ashlee about her music and what being in the U.K. would do to her career. She has no real answers for him. He advises Noelle that now’s the time to “go for it.” He chides Kelly for having poor body language around him (arms crossed, leaning away). He suggests that she’s more interested in having fun with the girls than with being with him. But Kelly has had a little too much to drink and instead of arguing, whips out her breasts and shows them to Matt. Matt’s put off by it. “I feel like the stuffy Brit around you,” he complains. He moves on to Shayne, who gets super-cozy with him, snuggling up on the couch.

It’s time for Matt to hand out the roses. He gives them to:

*Shayne

*Robin

*Noelle

(Amanda, Marshanna, and Chelsea all have date roses coming into the ceremony)

Immediately Ashlee bursts into tears, but Kelly seems ticked.

“Do I think he made a mistake? Obviously!” she says. “Matt, you’re cool and all, but you’re not the best ’cause you didn’t choose me!”

Ashlee, however, is barely able to catch her breath through her sobs. “I can’t believe it,” she says. “I don’t think that he even gave me a chance.” She ends with a song, saying Matt broke a part of her heart tonight.

Six girls are left and gather around Matt for a hearty “Cheers!”
