The perky dancer who gave viewers “more bounce to the ounce” this week on Dancing with the Stars is going daytime. Marissa Jaret Winokur, Tony Award-winner for her role as Tracy Turnblad in Broadway’s Hairspray, recently signed a deal with Sony Pictures Television to star in a daytime talk show of her own.
Winokur is not the first Dancing star to turn to daytime talk. In January, Marie Osmond announced plans for her own talk show as well. Both Osmond and Winokur are hoping for Fall 2009 premieres.
Marissa Jaret Winokur is one of the remaining seven contestants on the ABC reality powerhouse, Dancing with the Stars. Although she struggled early in the season, Winokur and her partner, Tony Dovolani, have made a comeback as the season has progressed. Their bouncy Samba this week rocketed them to 4th place by the judges’ scores.
There are seven dancers remaining on this season’s Dancing with the Stars. The remaining dancers Winokur will be competing against next week are:
Cristian de la Fuente & Cheryl Burke; Marlee Matlin & Fabian Sanchez; Shannon Elizabeth & Derek Hough; Jason Taylor & Edyta Sliwinska; Mario & Karina Smirnoff; Kristi Yamaguchi & Mark Ballas.
Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays at 8:00 PM (ET) and Tuesdays at 9:00 PM (ET) on ABC.
