Jordin Sparks Suffering From Vocal Cord Condition

April 19, 2008 09:02 PM by Joe Reality

Ray Mickshaw/FOXBad news for American Idol 6 winner Jordin Sparks. Just when her career was starting to heat up, she has been struck with an unfortunate illness. As Reality TV Magazine recently reported, Jordin Sparks performed her hit single “No Air” with Chris Brown on a recent American Idol 7 results show. On the telecast, Sparks received two platinum single plaques and a gold-certified album plaque.

Jordin Sparks also landed an opening spot on the Alicia Keys tour, which started on April 19. However, according to sources, Jordin Sparks was unable to perform on the opening date of the tour in Hampton, Virginia because of an illness.

Sparks also had a concert scheduled for Sunday, April 20 at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pennsylvania. However, the Bryce Jordan Center show has been canceled. According to a release from the Bryce Jordan Center, Jordin Sparks’ doctor informed them that she has an acute vocal cord hemorrhage condition.

A vocal cord hemorrhage is when a blood vessel on the vocal cord ruptures. It can result in permanent vocal cord damage, so it is important that people suffering from this condition have absolute voice rest.

There has been no formal announcement of how serious Jordin Sparks’ condition is or how long she will be absent from the Alicia Keys tour. Some sources are indicating that Jordin Sparks will not be able to perform again until at least the end of April.
