The Next Food Network Star is returning to the Food Network for a fourth season. Bobby Flay will be playing a full-time role with the selection committee this season, and there will be a number of very famous special guest stars. On the series, ten finalists will face a variety of challenges in an attempt to win his-or-her own Food Network show. Challenges range from such tasks as a late night race through the streets of Manhattan to teaming up with girl scouts to create healthy meals.
“What’s unique about The Next Food Network Star is that having top culinary chops is only half the battle,” said Bob Tuschman, Food Network’s Senior Vice President of Programming and Production. “If you can’t find the winning formula to deliver first rate creative food, a unique culinary point of view, and star charisma week after week, you’re going home. This year’s finalists are absolutely the most talented and fiercely competitive we’ve ever had on the show.”
The ten finalists for season four are Nipa Bhatt from Victoria, MN; Jennifer Cochrane from Woonsocket, RI; Lisa Garza from Dallas, TX; Adam Gertler from Philadelphia, PA; Cory Kahaney from New York, NY; Shane Lyons from Colorado Springs, CO; Aaron McCargo Jr. from Camden, NJ; Kelsey Nixon from North Ogden, UT; Kevin Roberts from San Diego, CA; and Jeffrey Vaden from White Plains, NY.
The selection committee for The Next Food Network Star will feature such guest stars as Martha Stewart, Rachael Ray, Giada De Laurentiis, Alton Brown, Cat Cora, Sandra Lee, Gina and Pat Neely, Masaharu Moriomto, Tyler Florence, Michael Symon and Season Two winner Guy Fieri. On the finale, the selection committee will pick the winner, who will receive a six-episode show that will start in August 2008 on the Food Network.
The Next Food Network Star premieres on Sunday, June 1 at 10 PM ET/PT. The finale is set to air on Sunday, July 27 at 10 PM ET/PT.
