David Cook’s Fan Club Gets a Name…

May 12, 2008 04:31 PM by Jennifer_Brown

David-Cook-at-home-Courtesy-FOXAmerican Idol’s David Cook made the rounds while on his hometown whirlwind tour last Friday. But it was during stop #1–an interview with Fox affiliate WDAF 4–that David gave a nod (and a name!) to his fan club.

Taking a moment to be silly during the lengthy interview, the Fox 4 Morning News anchors suggested that David’s fan club needed a name. They even had signs drawn up with several choices for David to choose from:

*David’s Diehards

*Always Cook (made to look like the Coca Cola symbol)

*Cook’s Crew (drawn into a retro-looking cassette tape)

*David is My Guitar Hero

*Hometown Hottie

David chuckles over the choices, and chooses Cook’s Crew, because he likes the retro look of the cassette tape.

After naming his Crew, the silliness continued as David took a shot at being a weatherman, standing in front of the weather screen and giving the forecast for the day.

From the looks of things during David’s concerts on Friday, I’d say most of his young female KC fans would’ve picked Hometown Hottie. But I’m sure they’ll take a spot on the “Crew” as well.

This is just a heads up. The TV station had no idea that David’s fans call themselves the Word Nerds, which wasn’t given as an option. He knows us as the Word Nerds and this name was chosen because of an early interview where he proclaimed himself as a Word Nerd.

Please, don’t call us the “Crew”

    Thank You.

David has never made any mention of his fanclub being officially the wordnerds, that was decided upon by everyone on the AI boards. There is no reason to be insulted by the name Cook’s Crew, we are a fanclub just the same as wordnerds are and no more official than you are. We are proud to say there is a CooksCrew.com fanclub out there now and there is no reason why a true David Cook fan has to only be a member of just one fanclub. You being insulted by our name only makes the Wordnerds look bad as a whole. Share the love man, we are all here for DC anyways.
