David Cook I Don't Want To Miss A ThingOn the American Idol final three performance show, David Archuleta, Syesha Mercado, and David Cook performed three songs each. To kick off the show, the finalists performed a song selected by the judges. David Archuleta sang “And So It Goes,” which was chosen by Paula Abdul. Randy Jackson said, “You are in the zone. You are in it to win it, baby.” Paula Abdul said, “Tonight, I really felt that you were a storyteller.” Simon Cowell said, “It was good. I don’t think it was outstanding.”

Syesha Mercado sang “If I Ain’t Got You,” which was chosen by Randy Jackson. Randy Jackson said, “You did an amazing job on it.” Paula Abdul said, “I’m very proud that you are the last lady standing there.” Simon Cowell said, “I have to say you sang that very well, Syesha.”

David Cook sang “First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” which was selected by Simon Cowell. Randy Jackson said, “I needed more rock from it.” Paula Abdul said, “That is one of my favorite songs, and now you’re the second favorite person who sings it.” Simon Cowell said, “Round one goes to Cook and Cowell.”

For their second song, the finalists sang a song that they selected themselves. David Archuleta sang “Without You.” Randy Jackson said, “I’m not sure that was the right song.” Paula Abdul said, “I really think that you should be singing songs like this.” Simon Cowell said, “It was a little bit like a Chihuahua trying to be a tiger.”

Syesha Mercado sang “Fever.” Randy Jackson said, “You sang it amazingly well.” Paula Abdul said, “I’m not sure that it shows me who Syesha is as an artist.” Simon Cowell said, “You did quite a lame cabaret performance.”

David Cook sang “Dare You To Move.” Randy Jackson said, “Performance-wise, let me just say it wasn’t your best tonight.” Paula Abdul said, “I feel like you just got to the beginning when it hit the end of the song, and I wanted more.” Simon Cowell said, “I think all three of you had an ok middle round.”

For their last song, the finalists sang a song selected by the producers. David Archuleta sang “Longer.” Randy Jackson said, “It was another hot one from you.” Paula Abdul said, “It was a lovely performance, David.” Simon Cowell said, “Look David, I’m not going to criticize you, because I think you sang the song very well. However, I thought the song and the lyrics was absolutely horrible.”

Syesha Mercado sang “Hit Me Up.” Randy Jackson said, “It was just ok for me.” Paula Abdul said, “As much as I liked it, I don’t know if it’s the type of song that defines you.” Simon Cowell said, “It didn’t give you the defining moment that I would have liked at the end of this show.”

David Cook sang “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing.” Randy Jackson said, “For me, I love the song, it was ok for me.” Paula Abdul said, “David, see you in the finals, that’s what I predict.” Simon Cowell said, “I have to tell you, David Cook wins the night.”

Which two finalists will make it through to the American Idol finale? With Simon Cowell declaring him the winner of the night, David Cook is almost certain to make the finale. It’s not looking good for Syesha Mercado, because even Paula Abdul indicated that her performances likely weren’t good enough to get her into the finals of American Idol. However, there is a chance that Syesha Mercado could pull off an upset over David Archuleta, who didn’t have a particularly good night either.
