Last week on American Idol, the final four performed two songs each from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Jason Castro was voted off the show. This week, the final three will perform three songs each. David Archuleta, David Cook, and Syesha Mercado will each sing a judges’ choice, a producers’ choice, and a finalist’s choice. For the record, if Jason Castro had made it through to the top three, he was considering singing “Blue Eyes” by the Cary Brothers.
Going into the second to last performance show, the top three finalists spoke about their favorite moments so far on American Idol. David Archuleta said, “Singing ‘Imagine’ because of the feeling it gave me. I was shocked at the effect it had on people and am so grateful for what the song accomplished.” David Cook said, “The first time I walked out on the big stage at the Top 12. I got a really cool vibe.” Syesha Mercado said, “Singing ‘A Change Is Gonna Come’ because the song had a lot of meaning to me and in history.”
