American Idol Results: Syesha Mercado Voted Off

Syesha Mercado Voted OffTo kick off the American Idol final three results show, David Archuleta, David Cook, and Syesha Mercado performed “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now.” For the Ford music video, the final three performed “Heaven.” After a recap of last night’s American Idol performance show, Fantasia sang “Bore Me.”

After Fantasia’s performance, Ryan Seacrest called the three finalists to center stage one by one. In video segments, David Archuleta returned to his hometown of Murray, Utah; Syesha Mercado returned to her hometown of Sarasota, Florida; and David Cook returned to his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri.

After the hometown visits videos, Ryan Seacrest called all three finalists back to center stage. Randy Jackson said, “Give yourselves a big round of applause no matter what happens.” Paula Abdul said, “You’re all standing in a path that’s reserved for nothing but great things to come.” Simon Cowell said, “I like these three, you know. And I think if it’s the final I’m hoping for, then I think we’re going to have a real humdinger next week.”

After the judges’ comments, Ryan Seacrest announced, “After 56 million votes, America has decided that the two people going head to head in our finale next week are David Archuleta and going up against David Archuleta is David Cook. Unfortunately, we lose Syesha tonight.” Syesha Mercado said, “There’s too many words. I don’t know what to say. I just want to say thank you.” Syesha performed a farewell performance of “If I Ain’t Got You.”
