With American Idol 7 coming to an end, FOX is wasting no time in launching another big reality TV hit series. The fourth season of So You Think You Can Dance will premiere on Thursday, May 22 from 8 PM to 10 PM ET/PT. The second part to the premiere will air on Wednesday, May 28 from 8 PM to 10 PM ET/PT on FOX.
So You Think You Can Dance is hosted by Cat Deeley, and the show features dancers competing in a variety of dance styles including hip-hop, salsa, disco, and jive. Judges for the show are Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy with rotating guest judges who will include top choreographers Mia Michaels, Napoleon D’umo and Tabitha D’umo and Adam Shankman.
For the fourth season of So You Think You Can Dance, the judges traveled to Dallas, Charleston, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Milwaukee and Washington, DC. Audition episodes will air as two-hour episodes on May 22, May 28, May 29, and June 4.
After the audition episodes, the Las Vegas round will air Thursday, June 5 from 8 PM to 10 PM ET/PT. The top twenty finalists, consisting of an equal number of guys and girls, will be announced during the Las Vegas round episode.
After the judges select the top twenty finalists, then America will vote to help decide who stays in the competition. The So You Think You Can Dance performance shows start on Wednesday, June 11 from 8 PM to 10 PM ET/PT. The So You Think You Can Dance results shows start on Thursday, June 12 from 9 PM to 10 PM ET/PT. On the results show, the three couples with the lowest number of viewer votes are revealed. Then, the bottom six dancers do solo routines, and the judges ultimately decide who goes home. When there are only ten finalists left, then eliminations are decided solely based on viewer voting.
