American Idol: Simon Cowell Apologizes To David Cook

May 21, 2008 09:15 PM by Joe Reality

Simon Cowell ApologizesDuring the American Idol finale performance show, Simon Cowell called all three rounds for David Archuleta. After David Archuleta’s final song, Simon Cowell even said, “In my opinion, David you came out here tonight to win, and what we have witnessed is a knockout.”

However, Simon Cowell must have gotten an early look at the voting results, because during the American Idol 7 finale results show, he was singing a different tune. Before the results were announced, Simon Cowell said, “I want to congratulate both of you on last night, because I thought on the night it was a terrific show. I went back home to watch it. It wasn’t quite so clear cut as we called it. And in fact, David, I will take this opportunity to apologize, because I think I was verging on disrespectful with you, and I don’t think you deserved that. Because over the season, both of you, what I like about both of you is that you’re tryers, and you’ve both given it your best. You’re both very nice people, and for the first time ever, I don’t really care who wins. I think you’ve both done terrific.”

Of course, shortly after Simon Cowell’s apology speech, Ryan Seacrest announced that David Cook had won American Idol 7. In fact, David Cook won by an amazing twelve million votes, so the majority of voters obviously disagreed with Simon Cowell’s knockout statement.

Out of thousands and thousands of entries, 3 out of 20 work with Mr. Aiken. and nobody has a problem with this?
