HGTV Design Star is returning for a third season on HGTV, and this time it will take place in Nashville, Tennessee. HGTV Design Star 3 premieres on Sunday, June 8, at 9 PM ET/PT. The series will run through Sunday, August 3.
On the premiere episode, the nine finalists, who will be competing for his or her own show on HGTV, will be introduced. Eight of the HGTV Design Star 3 finalists are Jennifer Bertrand, Olathe, Kan.; Tricia Beaudet, Shelby Township, Mich.; Dwayne Paul Derouen, Lafayette, La.; Tracee Dore, Louisville, Ky.; Matt Locke, Los Angeles, Calif.; Jerome Scott Miller, Winston-Salem, N.C.; Michael Stribling, College Station, Texas; and Michael Verdugo, Hollywood, Fla. The ninth finalist, who is being selected by online voters at HGTV.com, will be revealed on the premiere.
Some of the finalists run their own successful interior design businesses. Other finalists include architects, a former elementary school art teacher, a furniture designer and a police officer. Each week the finalists will face different design challenges.
“The skill level of this season’s HGTV Design Star finalists is at its highest yet,” said James Bolosh, who is vice president of event programming at HGTV. “Each finalist has extensive practical design experience and a competitive personality. We’ve already found extraordinary talent in our previous winners, David Bromstad and Kim Myles, so there is no doubt another superstar is in our midst, waiting to emerge victoriously as the next HGTV Design Star.”
HGTV host Clive Pearse is the host of the series. Judges are architect and interior designer Vern Yip, designer and author Cynthia Rowley and In Style magazine’s executive editor, Martha McCully. The judges will narrow the nine finalists down to just two finalists, but then viewers will vote to make the final decision.
