Not everybody’s hurting from the declining real estate market. Proving once again that the easiest way to make money is to start with a lot of money, Donald Trump has just unloaded a Florida mansion for $100 million dollars.
The recently sold mansion is called the Maison de L’Amitie (when a house is worth a hundred million bucks it qualifies to have its own name) and is approximately 80,000 square feet. Trump originally listed the mansion for sale at $125 million.
The Donald paid $41 million for the home in 2004. Of course, Trump also put a reported additional $25 million into fixing up the home, so his net profit was only somewhere in the neighborhood of $34 Million. As reality TV fans might remember, Apprentice winner Kendra Todd was assigned the renovation job on the house.
Reports surfaced awhile back that the house had been sold, but it was only recently revealed who the buyer was. The lucky new home owner is an investment company owned by a Russian billionaire named Dmitry Rybolovlev, who made his money in fertilizer. It’s doubtful if Dmitry will ever actually move into the house, because some reports suggest that he might tear it down in order to subdivide the 6.3 acre beachfront property.
The $100 million dollar sale is just the latest in what looks to be shaping up to be a good year for The Donald. Earlier this year, Trump rejuvenated his reality TV series The Apprentice with a much praised and highly rated celebrity edition. The Celebrity Apprentice is scheduled to return to NBC for a second season early next year.
