If there was ever any doubt, FOX has made it official that So You Think You Can Dance will return for a fifth season. The show has grown and into a big summer time hit for FOX, so its renewal wasn’t difficult to see coming. Both the Wednesday and Thursday telecasts of So You Think You Can Dance have ranked among the summer’s top five regular programs among adults between eighteen and forty-nine.
Mike Darnell, who is FOX’s President of Alternative Entertainment, said, “We’re delighted to have DANCE back for a fifth season next year. FOX is very lucky to have television’s preeminent performance competitions in American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, and it’s no coincidence that creator and executive producer Simon Fuller and executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe have been a part of both these successes.”
The two-night, four-hour So You Think You Can Dance 4 finale airs on Wednesday, August 6 from 8 PM to 10 PM ET/PT and Thursday, August 7 from 8 PM to 10 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed on FOX. The So You Think You Can Dance Live Tour 2008 starts on Saturday, September 20 in Tacoma, Washington. Tour cities and dates can be found at www.fox.com/dance.
