Tonight on a special two-hour episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Ty and his team will build the Voisine family a new home.
Country Music Star Rodney Atkins will be there to kick off the building of the Voisine’s new home.
Reynald and Casey Voisine experienced the unthinkable in May 2006, when their home was flooded, trapping them inside. Firemen were able to get into the house, but were unable to get back out themselves.
Reynald’s dad was the hero in this story when he drove his four-wheel drive pick-up truck up to the house and rescued both his family and the stranded workers and took them to safety.
FEMA declared the house a total loss and advised the family to demolish it and apply for a loan, but luck was not on the side of the family. Although they were able to get the house demolished for free by a family friend and the remains hauled away by the the money from FEMA, they were denied a loan to rebuild due to poor credit. Reynald had outstanding medical bills due to a misdiagnosed bout with appendivitis.
Not only are they homeless, but theyare still paying their monthly mortgage on their demolished property and rent to boot!
As the family struggles to keep their family together and their FEMA rental assistance about to run out Ty and his design team of Michael Moloney, Tanya McQueen, Paul DiMeo and John Littlefield step in to help out.
Local builder R.J. Moreau Communities and hundreds of volunteers and workers will rebuild the Voisine home while the family takes a much needed break on a Caribbean yacht. Country Music star, Rodney Atkins will also kick off the re-build by singing his song, “These Are My People.”
Tonight’s episode will air from 8 to 10 PM ET on the ABC Television Network.
