It has been rumoured (by Joe himself)in the past weeks that Girls Gone Wild creator, Joe Francis would be competing on Celebrity Apprentice, but Joe himself, laid that rumour to rest on Tuesday when he told the New York Post that he and Donald have decided to do a diffrent show together.
Joe told them, “I would have added a lot to Celebrity Apprentice, and I would have been excited to do it, but I’m more excited by this other idea.”
He had originally told Hollywoodscoop.com during the second season finale of Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew that he would be doing the show.
After his announcement, NBC executives reportedly dealt with major resistance from sponsors and eventually decided against including him in the show as his image wasn’t wholesome enough, according to The Post.
Joe did not comment on whether NBC’s decision was the reason he is venturing into a different show with Donald Trump.
Last Friday, E! News reported that he had “passed” on The Apprentice prior to a federal judge’s ruling on a prior motion by his lawyer asking to allow him to travel out of California to take part in the show’s taping. He will likely need to file a new motion if he does take part in a separate Trump project.
Joe Francis recently spent 10 months in prison after being accused of using under age girls in his series of sexually explicit videos and is currently charged with two counts of income-tax evasion. His lawyers are seeking to delay his current trial until 2010.
The second edition of Celebrity Apprentice will premiere January 2009 on NBC.
