Sweet Voiced, Toni Braxton, 40, is facing a daily fight to get herself into shape for this seasons Dancing With the Stars as she has been recently diagnosed with a heart condition. In May and June, Toni had to cancel a number of her Las Vegas shows after severe breathing problems sent her to the hospital.
Toni has since been diagnosed with coronary microvascular angina, a condition which starves parts of the body of oxygenated blood. Due to the fact that she has spent the summer trying to control the condition by learning how to balance her medication, she has decided that her goal is not to win the contest, but make it through rehearsals to get to episode one.
She told TV Guide, “If I can make it through the five weeks of rehearsals without getting chest tightness, that’s all I want.”
Although Toni began the summer very ill, she feels that she is well on her way to recovery and explained, “I could hardly walk up the stairs… (It felt) like someone was pushing on my chest.”
She will be competing against volleyball Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor, singer Lance Bass, TV personality Brooke Burke, soap star Susan Lucci, Olympian Maurice Greene, “Hannah Montana” star Cody Linley, singer Kim Kardashian, actor Ted McGinley, master chef Rocco DiSpirito, comedian Jeffrey Ross, TV vet Cloris Leachman, and NFL champ Warren Sapp!
Dancing with the Stars premieres on Monday, Sept. 22 at 8 PM ET on ABC.
