Clay Aiken, 2003, season 2, American Idol runner up, has confirmed in an interview for the upcoming issue of People magazine, that he is indeed Gay. His sexual orientation has been speculated by the public since his appearance on American Idol and now he has finally come out of the closet and is letting the world know the truth.
In 2006, Clay was questioned about his sexuality by Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America. At that time he told Diane that she was really rude to grill him about his sexuality. He also dodged the question in a previous interview with People magazine saying that readers “are going to believe what they want.”
He has always made a point o keep his private life private. Unfortunately, the quieter he remained, the louder the gossip has become.
Clay finally broke the news to People, in an article which is accompanied by the first published photos of his new son, Parker Foster who was conceived via medical intervention with his 50 year old best friend, Jaymes Foster.
The caption reads “Yes, I’m Gay,” and underneath is a quote from Aiken on his decision to come out of the closet that says: “I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things.”
This confession will only prove to make Clay a stronger and more honest role model for his child in the future.
A spokeswoman for People would neither confirm nor deny that Aiken told the magazine he is gay. But the magazine issued a statement saying, “We can confirm that Clay Aiken and his son appear on the next cover of People. For the complete story, visit people.com.
