In Rock of Love 1 and Rock of Love 2, several beautiful ladies competed to win the heart of rocker Brett Michaels. Daisy De La Hoya was one of the women taking part in the second season of Rock of Love. Brett Michael ultimately chose Ambre Lake as the winner of the second season, but their love did not last, and there will be a third season of Rock of Love.
Pop culture freelance journalist and reporter Neal Damiano recently caught up with Daisy Dela Hoya to talk about her Rock of Love days with Brett Michaels.
RTVM: How did you get cast for Rock of Love season 2?
Daisy De La Hoya: I was a big fan of season 1 and a huge Poison fan so I thought this is going to be the greatest show ever. When I saw it didn’t work out with Jess and Brett, I went on Jess’ MySpace and found a casting director for VH1. So I messaged him, then sent in a video and then the next thing I was flying to LA to be on the show. It all happened very fast.
RTVM: Did you honestly go on the show to find love?
Daisy De La Hoya: Yes, absolutely, but if it wasn’t Brett Michaels I wouldn’t of done it most likely. But come on, it’s love on television, it’s not hard to say you went on the show to be on TV. When I saw Brett on the first season, I sort of fell in lust, but then went I met him, he wasn’t at all what I thought. I was attracted to his looks and personality.
RTVM: What did you think about Brett upon first meeting him & what surprised you the most about him?
Daisy De La Hoya: The very first day I met him I was like, “Well lets check it out, see what he’s about,” but when he first walked into the room I was like “Wow.” He has such a charming way about him and a presence. I was thinking he’s a rock star for a reason. What surprised me is he’s very funny, and he’s sort of a goofball but also very kind to his fans.
RTVM: Who did you relate to the most was there any girl you clicked with right away?
Daisy De La Hoya: The girls I kind of clicked with right away were Destiny, Megan, and Jessica, which is ironic because we got put in the same room together right away. But especially Destiny and I clicked the most, because we’re both very rock n’ roll – wild childs really into music, so we hit it off.
RTVM: Were there any alliances that you were a part of?
Daisy De La Hoya: There wasn’t really any alliances on a show like thism, because Brett is going to like who he is going to like. And you can’t really control that, but I was down for my roommates Megan, Jessica, & Destiny. For sure, I had their backs.
RTVM: Was there any one girl you couldn’t stand in the house?
Daisy De La Hoya: I really don’t like saying anything negative about other girls, but the ones who got booted off early it was probably for the best, because well they were bad.
RTVM: Do you think the incident with your ex boyfriend ruined your chances with Brett?
Daisy De La Hoya: No, I don’t and if it did I think that’s ridiculous. For one, I never lied to Brett. I didn’t even really have to tell him that. I volunteered that info. After the show, my ex actually said “Why did you tell him that? I wasn’t going to say anything.” Brett is really good friends with the mother of his children, so it’s sort of the same thing. It is kind of hypocritical. We had broken up a month before the show. My living situation wasn’t the best at that time. I had two weeks to prepare for the show. It all happened so fast.
RTVM: What was the best part of the whole experience?
Daisy De La Hoya: The best part of the whole time was obviously being there and having the amazing opportunity. What better way to get to know a rock star then to be trapped in a mansion with him. You know that’s pretty rad. But so far the greatest thing is all the fans that I have now and have connected with. In my opinion, I was a part of one of the greatest shows on TV. I feel privileged to have been a part of something that was such a big deal and such a ridiculous disaster. It’s awesome.
RTVM: Do you think Ambre was the best fit for him in the end?
Daisy De La Hoya: I do not, but at the end of the day, it’s Brett’s decision. In my opinion, he went with the safe choice and obviously there is a season 3 for a reason. I was the real deal, and I can’t necessarily speak for Ambre, saying she wasn’t, but I don’t think she was the real deal, and maybe that’s why Brett chose her, but I was real.
