Anna Keller Makes The Duggar Family 20

October 02, 2008 01:00 PM by Paulene Hinds

This past weekend, Florida native Anna Keller married the oldest child of The duggar family Josh, expanding their family count to twenty. The couple met at a home-schoolers conference in 2006 and Josh said that it was love at first sight. He spent the next two years courting Anna. They had chaperoned visits as well as keeping in touch by phone.

“We wanted proof that, yes, we did exactly what we said we would,” Duggar said. “We want to encourage other young people to wait for the right timing.”

Their kiss at the altar was their first and the couple are now talking about beginning their own family and don’t care how large it is. “Not everyone is blessed with being able to have children,” Keller, who is one of eight kids, said. “If the Lord chooses to bless us with a child, it wouldn’t matter if it was one, two or a bunch.”

Josh’s family are best known for the children. His mother is pregnant for her eighteenth child that will be born in January 2009 and the familynow has their own new reality show, 17 Kids and Counting, that premiered Monday on TLC.

I enjoy watching your show…however, I was a bit disappointed when I saw the one with Josh proposing to Anna. It seemed like after that happened, ALL anyone spoke about was how they weren’t going to kiss or be physical with each other until they are married. I understand that concept, BUT…there is way more to being married. It’s NOT all about being physical and kissing and having sex. There is so much more. In my opinion, there was a huge preoccupation with it and that bothered me. Please don’t get me wrong. I realize that Josh and Anna are in love and are now married and were very excited about the thought of being intimate with each other…but I hope that they understand that there is so much more to having a good marriage than sex. Yes, God did create us that way, but that is just a very small part of us. I wish you all of the best, and do really enjoy the show and watch whenever I can.

i too enjoy the show and i was happy to see them verbalize their coomitment to be completely pure untill marriage. i assume they put that message out there because it’s not one you hear of often unless you might happen to come across it at a christian bookstore. they weren’t preoccupied with counting down the days untill they could be sexual with eachother. they were preoccupied preparing for their marriage on a deeper level of intamacy (communication, faithfullness, patience, respect, etc.). and that happened BECAUSE they didn’t focus their attention on fulfilling sexual desires. i mean come on… josh’s parents are great role models of what it takes to have a strong marriage and family. so i’m guessing they had already realized marriage was more than sex before they even met eachother at that homeschooling conference.
