Wearing an Alfred Angelo strapless gown, Neil diamond earrings and crystal encrusted Stuart Wetzman shoes, American Idol’s single mother LaKisha Jones, walked down the aisle to her prince, Larry Davis yesterday. Larry is a financial advisor in Housten, Texas.
LaKisha’s five year old daughter Brionne was the flower girl and on Friday she and her mother were very excited. “I’m very excited,” Jones, 28, tells PEOPLE. “My [5-year-old] daughter Brionne is the flower girl, and she woke up this morning and said, ‘We have [a few] days, Mommy, and then I can put on my dress!” Brionne was in tears at the service as she threw red rose petals, while walking down the aisle.
LaKisha was married at the Beverly Wishire Hotel in a Hollywood glamour themed weddding of black and white, designed by wedding planner, Rene Puebla. Puebla was the planner for Orprah’s 50th birthday party.
The event was witnessed by fifty guests includingIdol faces Sanjaya Malakar, Melinda Doolittle, Gina Glocksen and Haley Scarnato.
The minister, Dr. Ed Montgomery of Houston threw some reality TV wit into the ceremony and joked with the crowd, “Pay attention. What I’m about to say is very important: We’ll have the results right after these messages.”
LaKisha punctuated the ceremony with laughter during a vow that included the phrase “for richer or less richer.”
Jones has spent the past year performing in The Colour Purple on Broadway, demonstrating voice techniques as a coach on MTV’s Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods and prepping the Oct. 21 release of her single, “So Glad I’m Me,” in anticipation of her first solo CD.
She told PEOPLE, “I am glad to be me, I may not have won American Idol, but I have won because I’m able to provide a better life for me and my daughter and that’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
