The Biggest Loser Has Heartache And A Trainer Who Has No Mercy
October 07, 2008 06:12 PM by DA Southern
The Biggest Loser gave us a recap of last week as we saw the families start to bust up and Jerry leave the friendly confines of the Biggest Loser Ranch. As most of the contestants began to realize that at some point they would be alone in their journey towards health, Jillian spent some alone time with Coleen to try to understand her motivations and encourage her to keep on the right path.
Vicky, concerned that her Brown Team companion, Brady, was holding her back confronted Bob to see how she could work on her own to make progress without Brady being rude to her. Bob assured her that she would need to take the journey in a different manner and that she must not depend on Brady for comfort. It was funny to see that as soon as the teams began to be split up last week, that the individual spirits began to emerge.
Jillian was seen working with Coleen as she was now on her own and gave her a special work out downloaded to her MP3 player. Vicky confronted Brady telling him that he was holding her back, and you could see the tension start to build. Great…Drama…just what we like on TBL.
Phil and Amy were off to visit home because of a challenge they had won and you know that they will suffer because of the time away from the ranch. Yes, it is nice to see the family interaction but, hey, we are here to see these people sweat…and to see Jillian yell at her team.
Shellay and Amy had won extra time with their trainer thinking that they would be treated to a lunch with her, but Jillian being who she is, gave them a “Beat down” in the training facility. Both Shellay and Amy were shocked that they were being trained so hard and it only got worse as Jillian showed them who was boss and in the process made them both cry.
Phil and Amy were back in Greenville, SC with their family and, good for them, they were seen exercising with their 3 kids and you could see that they had truly changed their outlook towards health.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, Jillian was again being seen tormenting the girls, Shellay and Amy and actually in the process began to break down some of the psychological barriers that both women seemed to be carrying around with them as a result of their weight gain.
Challenge Time:
Host Alison Sweeney greeted the teams at a Universal back lot that housed a huge tank of water that was to be the setting of their next challenge and with the hanging lines that the teams were going to be using, it looked like it was to be a severe challenge.
Ali told the teams that they were going to be hanging on tight as they were going to be hanging in a tank of water and be the last one to endure to win letters from home. Ali also added that the winning family got a 3-day VIP pass to Universal Studios. The teams grabbed the bars and many of them thought it seemed to be an easy challenge…until the water started to leave the tank, making the challenge that much harder.
At the 55 minute mark, Renee quit and was quickly followed by Colleen and then Heba quit shortly after that. Ed lasted at 83 minutes and about the ninety minute mark, Ali said they could only use one arm. At 100 minutes, Amy and both Brown team members, Vicky and Brady were left when Brady wimped out, which was funny as Brady had been giving Vicky so much grief for being the weakest link.
With Amy, from the purple team and Vicky left, the women were looking like they could go all night as each of them wanted the big prize…letters from home. With the rushing water leaving the tank at an increasing speed, and with the 107 minute mark passing, Vicky won as Amy slipped into the tank unable to hold on any longer, giving Vicky not only a physical victory, but a psychological victory as well, as she seemed more determined than ever to not go below the yellow line this week.
The next scene was the reward from the challenge and, of course, it was sad and touching, but with time running out, we did not know how the weight loss was going and who seemed to be on track to be the winner…I mean, the loser…this week at the scales.

As this weeks shortened episode came to a close, Jillian was seen telling her teams that she had seen some people who were serious about losing weight, but none of them seemed to be those people. Jillian was shocked that the teams would not do their homework and showcased the women from the last seasons who busted their butts to make a difference in their lives. Of course, the crying ensued and we will see how much Jillian’s efforts pay off in the next episode, a special episode tomorrow night.
