October 08, 2008 11:00 AM by Paulene Hinds

Paris Bennett, better known as “Princess P” on the fifth season of American Idol, welcomed her first child this past Monday, a baby girl. Egypt Bennett, who was born at 3:36 p.m. Monday afternoon, weighed in at 5 lbs., 15 oz.

She was in labor only five hours before her own princess came into the world and she told PEOPLE, “I’m so excited to finally see my little angel and man, does she have lungs on her. I guess she’s gearing up to be the next American Idol.”

Her rep released a statement in regards to the new bundle of joy, “Paris’s mother Jamecia Bennett and her family is filled with excitement and welcomes their bundle of joy.”

This past June the announcement was made by Bennett herself that she was expecting and at that time her mother told the Minneapolis StarTribune that the baby’s father, “chooses not to be in the public eye.”

Bennett’s Christmas album, A Royal Christmas will hit the stores on Oct. 14.
