October 13, 2008 11:00 AM by Paulene Hinds

Kellie Picklers new album is on the charts! The fifth-season American Idol finalist’s self-titled second album “Kellie Pickler,” debuted at No. 9 on this week’s The Billboard 200 album sales chart. It sold 43,000 units during its initial week of release, according to Nielsen Soundscan data.

Pickler must be feeling a deja vu as her debut album, “Small Town Girl” also debuted at No. 9 when it was released in October 2006, and sold 79,000 units in it’s first week.

“Small Town Girl” has since sold a total of 789,000 units.

In addition to Pickler’s album, this week’s The Billboard 200 chart also featured the debut of another Idol alum’s new album. “Jennifer Hudson,” the self-titled debut album debuted at No. 2 on the chart after selling 217,000 units in its first week of release.

I’m surprised how good she is. I was never really a fan on AI but I heard a few tracks on iTunes and end up buying the whole thing. Listen to some of it online and see.
