After having to hold herself accountable in the past few weeks to the media, Dancing With the Stars Pro Cheryl Burke is now finding herself being scrutinized by her male dancing propeers for gaining weight, and the guys aren’t just picking on her…they are after Lacey Schwimmer as well.
The male professional dancers on DWTS are not pleased that Cheryl Burke and Lacey Schwimmer packed on a few pounds this season.
“If you want to gain weight, it’s your perogative,” dancer Louis van Amstel said in the newest issue of TV Guide.
“We all put on weight because there was no summer tour,” he adds. “But you have to deal with the consequences.”
Burke and Schwimmer have gotten slimmer since the season’s premiere, but van Amstel says the damage is done.
“[People] look at this show to be inspired and think, ‘If I just work hard enough, I can look like that,’” he says. “If they watch someone who’s dancing her butt off and she’s still heavy, they can be discouraged.
“You have to take responsibility,” he stated.
Another male DWTS pro, Maksim is also complaining.
“When I first saw these women this season, I said, ‘Guys, you know the camera adds 10 pounds,’” he says. “‘You have to do something about this.”
Well, the guys of DWTS need to listen to a viewers (and mother of two teen dancers, one male and one female) take on both Cheryl Burke and Lacey Schwimmer’s bodies.
I too did notice that Cheryl Burke had gained weight this season, Lacey I never thought about as I have never seen her before on the show. When I saw the way Cheryl moves on the dance floor and how her curves compliment this beautiful woman I thought to myself, “WOW, Dancing With The Stars is finally getting it!
They are finally realizing that the viewers want to see REAL woman on this show, not stick thin nothings that we cannot compare ourselves to or ever be able to have any likeness of. I myself am a competitive Hip Hop dancer and am inspired by the REAL women out there like Burke and Schwimmer and I think that the competition is not about weight, but about talent and in my opinion, both of these ladies have what it takes to go the distance.
You go girls, booty power to you both!
