Actress Jennifer Hudson is offering a one hundred thousand dollar reward for the safe return of her missing 7 year old nephew, Julian King. Hudson’s nephew has been missing since Friday, when her mother and brother were shot dead at the family’s home on Chicago’s South Side.
Hudson’s publicist Lisa Kasteler issued a statement saying the actress and her family would offer the reward. The family asks that any information be given to the Chicago Police Department.
In a MySpace blog entry on Sunday, Hudson said she was grateful for community support and posted a picture of her sister’s son.
“Thank you all for your prayers and your calls. Please keep praying for our family and that we get Julian King back home safely,” the blog entry said. “If anyone has any information about his whereabouts please contact the authorities immediately … Once again thank you all for being there for us through this tough time.”
Investigators are looking for forensic evidence near the home where her mother and brother were found shot to death.
The estranged husband, William Balfour is still in custody as the prime suspect for the crimes, but has not been charged at this time.
This tragedy strikes Jennifer Hudson at a time when her career is skyrocketing. After winning an Academy Award for best supporting actress in 2007′s Dreamgirls, Jennifer not only performed at the Democratic National Convention at the request of Barack Obama and her single “Spotlight” is at the top of the R&B charts.
Jennifer also had roles this year in Sex and the City and The Secret Life of Bees.
The saddest part about the family killings is that it has happened a few months after her engagement to David Otunga.
