American Idol winner Carrie Underwood, is now seeing double. On Thursday she visited Madame Tussauds in New York to help unveil a wax figure of herself. She posed for pictures beside her likeness, which will be permanently placed in the museum’s “VIP Room.” Visitors will be able to take pictures with and even hug her figure.
The wax figure depicts Underwood standing with her hands on her hips and wearing a short, sparkly pink dress, which she wore to the 2006 Country Music Association Awards show. She received her first CMA female vocalist of the year award that year, and won the same award again in 2007.
Underwood generously donated a replica of the dress to Madame Tussauds. The dress was designed by Trish Townsend and constructed by Dez Zamek.
A team of wax artists worked on the Underwood likeness earlier this year after she modeled for it.
“It was mainly just a couple of people met us out on the road and like did a lot of measurements, a lot of picture taking,” she told The Oklahoman. “I had to stand still for a long time while they did their thing.”
Janine DiGioacchino, General Manager of Madame Tussauds New York and Madame Tussauds Washington D.C., made a statement, “We are thrilled that Carrie was able to join us today to help unveil her figure. Not only is she a bona fide superstar with fans around the world, but she is also an incredibly kind and generous young woman – a true role model for young people today. We know that our guests will love her figure, and we can’t wait for them to see it.”
