Lance Bass Speaks Out About Proposition 8

November 07, 2008 01:00 PM by Paulene Hinds

Dancing With The Stars competitor, Lance Bass has something to say about proposition 8. Being openly gay himself, he voted “no” on the proposition.

Lance spoke to OK! magazine and told them, “It’s a very scary situation because it’s the first proposition in our history that puts discrimination into the constitution.” He also said that he’d like to get married and have kids one day.

“It’s a very sad time and if it gets voted ‘yes’ on, I’m going to have to rethink where I live.” Lancesaid that he was kidding and won’t leave California, but said the proposition against gay marriage shows that “we’re just not there yet and people need to be educated more. I think there’s a lot of lies going on [in the commercials]. They’re using children, which I think is so not fair. Hopefully ‘no’ on 8 will happen!”

Unfortunately for Lance, the vote was a yes on proposition 8 and the couples that were recently married under the old bill will have to go to court and see if their marriages will remain valid. Mellissa Ethridge has stated that she will no longer pay taxes as she isn’t really a citizen anyway. I am sure many will be on the bandwagon to have this taken to court once again!

Lance can be seen every Monday and Tuesday night dancing with his pro partner Lacey Schwimmer on Dancing With the Stars where they are putting the heat on the lead competitor’s Brooke Burkeand Derek Hough.
