Gone Country

Gone Country is returning for a third season on CMT. The new Gone Country cast will include George Clinton, Tara Conner, Taylor Dayne, Micky Dolenz, Sheila E., Richard Grieco and Justin Guarini.

Singer, songwriter and producer John Rich is returning as host of the series. In the show, seven celebrities from various realms of the entertainment industry are immersed in all things country. This season’s cast includes a funk musician, a Miss USA, a pop vocalist, two actor/musicians, a entertainer/musician, and a former reality TV star. The former reality TV star is American Idol runner-up Justin Guarini.

The seven celebrities will undergo two-weeks worth of challenges with the ultimate goal of creating a hit country music single. The celebrities will get to work with some of Nashville’s finest songwriters, who will help them write a country single. New to the third season is that the celebrities will have the opportunity to win mentor sessions with top country artists.

In the end, John Rich selects the artist that he feels is most prepared to record a country music single as the winner. The series is currently under production in Nashville and will premiere in January 2009.
