The drama continues this week on Stylista as the contestants continue to gang up on Kate. The teams are instructed to design a two-page editorial spread, and they are told that two of them will be going home at the end of the challenge. However, one of the contestants reaches their breaking point and might be going home by their own decision…
Ashlie and Dyshaun are very upset that Cologne has gone home and Kate hasn’t. William starts a discussion with the rest of the contestants in regards to their experience. Megan is very skeptical and asks to see his portfolio, but he feels underestimated.
CHALLENGE: They are told to meet at Henry Bendle’s. They are told they need to purchase one day to night outfit for Anne to use in the Hamptons. They have $1000.00. When they get to the cash register Devin is $2000.00 over budget, so she has to eliminate a bunch of items. Anne meets them outside before she gets in her limo to leave. She looks at all of the outfits and chooses Devin’s outfit. Devin will be able to choose teams for the next editorial challenge, and they are told two people will be going home. Megan and Dyshaun start beating up on Devin for not having any experience and being so young. Megan tells her that she thinks she should go home.
Brett tells them they will be designing a two- page spread with a theme and captivating title. It will be showcasing the clothes of Tori Birch. Devin chooses Ashlie, Kate, Danielle, and Megan on team one. William, Johanna, Dyshaun, and Devin on team two.
The teams break up to think of ideas and again drama starts up with Kate. Later on that night, she finds them all talking behind her back and confronts them. Everyone breaks out into a fight besides Devin and Johanna. Kate calls her mom after the fight for some encouragement and her mom tells her that she should leave the competition. Kate was determined to leave the house, but then she thought about all the things she had given up to be there and decided to stay.
The teams are given a model and photographer to take pictures for their spread. They are given a couple hours to go shopping for their props. Devin’s team decides on a theme of “gossip girl.” They have a set of faceless mannequins, against which the model will stand out. Megan’s teams decides on a theme of “retro revival.” When they go shopping, Kate finds it annoying that Megan shuts down every idea, yet has none of her own. All the other girls are frustrated with Kate because she keeps interjecting during the photo shoot and telling the model what to do.
Tori Birch joins the panel to judge this week’s editorial spreads. Team one is first to present. Anne asks them who’s idea it was and they mostly agree that it was Kate. Tori says that she didn’t have retro in mind when she designed the dress that was featured in the shoot. Kate throws Megan under the bus and says that she wasn’t around for alot of the planning. Anne feels design was successful. Team two presents their spread. Johanna takes credit for the mannequin idea, however, the judges don’t understand the concept. They think it is a bit elitist for Elle, but they did a good job with taking a risk.
They thought the retro theme was a little bit too literal, but they thought it told a good story. They were happy Kate took a stand and were proud of her. The gossip girl theme didn’t make sense to them and was too one-dimensional. The judges didn’t understand why they were so proud of the theme. Team one makes it through. Anne tells team two that they were the weakest this week. Johanna is the first to make it through. Anne tells William that they don’t have a good sense of his contribution. She tells Devin that she was overshadowed and had no presence in the layout. Dyshaun makes it through, which means that Devin and William go home.
The show airsWednesdays 9 PM ET on The CW.
