The Paula Abdul fan that was found this week dead in a car outside of the American Idol judge’s home had sent Paula flowers recently and even changed her name to Paula. Paula Godspeed’s actual name was Sandra, according to a People report.
According to a source, Abdul received flowers last week that had a message attached that read, “Hope you’re doing great. Here’s my new cell number. Love, J.T.”
People reported that Abdul’s boyfriend’s name is J.T.,and when Abdul called him to inquire about the cell number change, he told her he hadn’t changed his number. According to the source, this led Abdul to believe that the flowers were really from Goodspeed. The People article also reported thatAbdul “received more than 100 letters, numerous phone calls and uninvited visits from Goodspeed.”
Sonja McIntyre, Goodspeed’s niece told People that her aunt had changed her name to Paula 16 years ago, because, “she just liked the name Paula.” She also told the magazine that her aunt was a “good person.”
McIntyre also told People that when shevisited California, her aunt showed her Abdul’s house, but not in a way that suggested she was a stalker.
“Me and her went by Paula’s house a couple of times. That’s about it,” said the niece. “She was showing me where she lived. We liked looking at the huge condos out there … Why they found her dead in her car near Paula Abdul’s house, I do not know. But I don’t believe my aunt killed herself.”
