At the beginning of this season, there was talk that this could be the last season of The Hills, but Audrina Patridge put that rumour to rest this past weekend when she told PEOPLE that the MTV reality show would be back for another season.
“There is going to be a fifth season,” Audrina told PEOPLE. “We just found out.”
The renewal of another season comes as a surprise especially when Lauren Conrad reported last month that she was ready to leave the show.
“I’ve been doing it for five years. I think that it’s time for them to get someone else to step in,” PEOPLE quoted Lauren as saying in October.
Audrina however says the show will continue, despite some complications.
“At one point, all of us were like, ‘No, we don’t want to do another season,’” she said. “I wanted to do more movies, and Whitney moved to New York and she’s doing her own spin-off.”
Whitney Port’sNew York-based spin-off, “The City,” will premiere next spring.
When PEOPLE asked Audrina why they are doing another season of the show, she replied, “We have fun with each other and we’ve stuck it out this long,” she said. “We might as well do another one.”
