American Idol: Big Changes In Store This Season

December 14, 2008 07:00 PM by Paulene Hinds

It looks like there will be a few morechanges this season on American Idol. Not only will there be four judges, including Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi, but an American Idol fan website posted what it claims is an internal FOX memo that shows how the network plans to update the show, according to Access Hollywood.

The apparent changes for the fans will include fewer audition weeks featuring “fewer bad singers and more ‘aspirational’ singers” and instead of a Top 24, the show will feature a Top 36 which will eventually be narrowed down to 12.

Some of the regular American Idolfeatures will also reportedly be changed. The site states that the Wild Card round will return while the charity-based Idol Gives Backisn’t on the schedule for this season.

When FOX was asked about the internal memo they declined to comment, reported Access. There will however be a press conference call about American Idol new season sometime today.
