American Idol Finalist Kristy Lee Cook Leaves Arista Nashville

American Idol season seven finalist, Kristy Lee Cook has left Arista Nashville, a label spokesmanreported last week. Kristy Lee Cook had signed a recording contract with the label in June and her debut country album, Why Wait was released in September by the label.

Why Wait debuted at Number 49 on The Billboard 200 album sales chart when it was released on September 16. The album currently has only sold 25,000 copies since its release. 15 Minutes of Shame, the album’s first single, peaked atNumber 28 on Billboard’s country singles chart.

Kristy Lee Cook had previouslyreleased an album with BMI, Devoted, under the name Kristy Lee in 2005 before becoming the seventh place finalist on the seventh season of the television series American Idol.

According to the source, this is the second time that Cook has left Arista Nashville. She had signed on with the label when she was 17 years old in 1999 and was dropped without ever releasing an album.

19 Entertainment has not commented yet whether they are still working with Cook.
