The newest American Idol judge, Kara DioGuardi says that she did not join the American Idol team to edge out Paula Abdul. “Oh no. Why would I take her place?” Kara told E!, “She’s great. People love her, I’m hoping they like me. I’m not worried about taking Paula’s place, I’m trying to make sure people like me.”
When Kara DioGuardi wasasked by E! which judge’s personality she will be more like on the show…relaxed like Randy Jackson, mean like Simon Cowellor crazy like Paula Abdul, she stated, “I have an opinion, I have something to say, I have a lot of experience, and I’m going to voice that,If there’s a kid that I feel needs a tough approach, that’s what I’m going to give them.” She added, “I’m always honest, I always tell the truth straightforward.”
Kara DioGuardialso told E! that there is an even playing field with two males and two females on the panel, but it doesn’t mean that the girls gang up on the guys. She said, “Sometimes I agree with one or two of them, it goes back and forth.”
With four judges on the panel, people have been wondering how everything was going to work on American Idol, especially if it is a two yes and two no vote for a potential contestant. Kara DioGuardiexplained that now that there are four judges, Simon Cowell (who already thinks he is God) has been given even more power. “The biggest change is that Simon is the tiebreaker,” says Kara DioGuardi. “If you agree with him, great, but if you don’t there’s definitely going to be some contention there. It’s kind of minute by minute now with this new tiebreaking thing, everyone on the panel could seem to be getting along, and then he says he wants to put them through or not put them through, and all hell can break loose.”
