The Dancing With the Stars tour is showcasing Derek Hough and Mark Ballas’ other love… their music. The two are performing live gigs in the cities where the tour stops with their band, the Ballas Hough Band.
Derek Hough spoke to The Desert News about his double life on the road and said, “It’s been pretty crazy. I’d go to dance rehearsals from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and then go to band rehearsals from 5 p.m. to midnight and start over the next day. Lately, it’s been 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. dancing and then 6 p.m. to midnight rehearsing with the band. But I’m so excited to be able to do this.”
Playing with the band while on the Dancing With the Stars tour is not new to Derek Hough and Mark Ballas, but this year marks the fourth season of the tour and the two are playing with a full band which includes, drummer Harry Sullivan, bassist Sam Marder and background vocalist/keyboardist Emily Grace.
“It’s been great playing cities where we dance,” Hough said.
The Ballas Hough Band will release their debut album in March, 2009.
