Dancing With the Stars: Mark Ballas Injures Himself On Tour

December 29, 2008 09:00 AM by Paulene Hinds

Dancing With The Stars pro, Mark Ballas, is sidelined from the tour for the next few weeks. He suffered a groin injury while performing at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Mark Ballas took home the title with Kristi Yamaguchi in season6 of Dancing With The Stars last May. The young singer/dancer apologized to the crowd for not being able to perform during the show and hopefully will be healed up in time to join the eighth season cast of Dancing With The Stars on March 9th.

Mark Ballas is not the first Dancing With The Stars performer this year to be injured. During season 7 of the hit show, Misty Mae-Treanor was forced to quit the show after she ruptured her Achilles tendon, and Julianne Hough had emergency surgery to treat endometriosis which kept her out of season 7 for two weeks. There were many other less serious injuries this past season too. Jeffrey Ross was poked in the eye and scratched his cornea and Derek Hough suffered a scare when he blacked out after a show and hit his head. Then Karina Smirnoff sprained her ankle ending her season and shortly after season 7 ended, Cloris Leachman, the 82 year old hip hop queen, was diagnosed with pneumonia.

With all of the injuries this past season some are saying that Dancing With The Stars has been hexed with a curse? Well curse or not, the show will return for season 8 on March 9th on ABC and hopefully all of the pros and stars will be in top form for another big season of the show.
