Dancing With The Stars The Tour: A Reality TV Magazine Exclusive

January 05, 2009 10:44 AM by Christine McDow

Between the sexy men and women dancing, the theatrics, and the audience participation, the Dancing With The Stars Tour is one that will definitely not disappoint. Reality TV Magazine got to attend the live show last night in Dallas and we had a great time not only watching the stars Lance Bass, Toni Braxton, Marlee Matlin, Maurice Greene and special guest star Cody Linley dance, but we had a blast seeing the professionals show off their best moves in pairs, and then as a team in multiple group dance numbers. (Keep reading for more pictures and some short videos!)

Not only was there dancing, but there was a lot of comedy as Fabian Sanchez hosted the show and showed his funny side. Not all the jokes were hilarious, but you definitely found yourself chuckling and smiling more than not. Then Lance Bass came out and talked about how he has rediscovered his love of touring, before breaking into the NSYNC hit, Bye Bye, Bye…which thankfully only lasted about 10 seconds. Then the dancing began.

The first half of the Dancing With The Stars tour was a bit longer than the second and included almost as much commentary and jokes between the cast as it did dancing. The first time each star danced would befollowed by commentary by that star and their partner on the last year, including the training they went through, the dancing they did or didn’t do, and why they didn’t win. Maurice Greene told his partner Cheryl Burke that he didn’t win because she didn’t let him do any of his own, special “Mo” moves, and then he proceeded to break out into a dance that looked more like it was choreographed by MC Hammer than by Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Of course, the crowd loved it.

Toni Braxton let the audience know that she is feeling 100% now after her recent heart problems and the Toni Braxton fans in the audience were treated to not one, but two songs sung by the Grammy Award winning songstress including her biggest hit Un-break My Heart.

There is really nothing like watching the professionals in person as they shimmy and shake across the dance floor. The crowd favorite, Derek Hough, was on the stage the most it seemed as he participated in almost every group dance that was planned, as well as some solos with different partners throughout the night. The cute couple, Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer, was as great together in person as they were when you watched them through the television. They clearly still shared a certain chemistry that was undeniable.

The best seats in the house were definitely the table seats that they brought in which surrounded the stage. If you were lucky enough to get seats at a little round table with a red table cloth you got to see the show of your life. Because the tour itself was very interactive, the people sitting at the tables got their money’s worth. At different points in the show the stars and professionals would talk to and involve the audience. Toni Braxton sat in the laps of many men, the professionals would grab cameras from the audience and take pictures of each other, and Derek Hough even stole some woman’s popcorn and began sharing it with others on the dance floor. Towards the end Derek grabbed a woman from the tables and took her on the floor to dance with him…luckily this lady knew how to move and even got a dip from the blond boy.

One professional’s presence was missed however last night. No, not Mark Ballas. Despite his injury last week, he was still on the floor and able to dance. But it was clear that at least one person in the arena wished that Derek Hough’s sister, Julianne Hough, was there. When asked by one of the stars who this 10 year olds favorite dancer was, she quietly stated, “Julianne.”

Unfortunately we also did not get to see the Ballas Hough band perform last night during the show, but we heard they are fantastic!

If you don’t already have tickets to see this year’s Dancing With The Stars Tour and they haven’t come to your town yet, be sure to get them now! If you missed it, be sure to keep an eye out for the next tour.

Dancing With The Stars begins again on Monday, March 9th, and as always Reality TV Magazine will be bringing you exclusive recaps and all the news and gossip that youwant leading up to and during the show. We gave away 10 sets of tickets to this year’s tour and would love to give you a set for the next one, so keep your eye out.
