The Bachelor is coming back for a thirteenth season on ABC, and the outcome of the show has already been revealed. No, the woman who bachelor Jason Mesnick selects hasn’t been leaked, but Jason has revealed that he’s in love, he proposed, and he’s engaged. With so many past seasons of The Bachelor not producing a match, it’s good to know that this season has a happy ending, provided of course that the happy couple doesn’t break up before the finale airs.
The thirteenth season of The Bachelor is also promising several firsts in Bachelor history. For one thing, thirty-two year old Jason Mesnick is the first single dad to be the Bachelor. For another thing, there will be four single moms among the bachelorettes competing to win Jason’s heart. Also, in a surprise twist, the women will actually vote to decide who they want to leave on the first night.
The season premiere of The Bachelor 13 kicks off with Jason Mesnick returning to the same Los Angeles mansion where he was one of the bachelors competing to win DeAnna Pappas’ heart. Now, there will be twenty-five bachelorettes vying for Jason’s affection.
Jason gets a chance to mingle with the bachelorettes at a party. One brunette bachelorette reveals her extensive knowledge of Jason’s life, while another professes to being able to assess a man based on the condiments he chooses for his hot dog. One of the bachelorettes also professes that she gave up her job as a school teacher in order to pursue Jason.
As usual, host Chris Harrison shows up with a “first impression” rose, which brings out the competition in the ladies. One of the women invites Jason for a sexy samba by the pool, while another cuts in and grabs him for a jazzy slow dance. Also, a beautiful widow reveals her tragic past, while a birthday girl gets a little overconfident.
At the end of the evening, the women are asked to vote for the bachelorette that they would like to see leave immediately. Some bachelorettes vote strategically, while others try to keep Jason’s best interest in mind. At the elimination ceremony, Jason has to eliminated ten of the twenty-five women, which will leave fifteen to compete.
The Bachelor 13 premieres with a two-hour special episode on Monday, January 5 from 8 PM to 10 PM ET on ABC.
