American Idol: Scam Warning
January 09, 2009 02:00 PM by Paulene Hinds

American Idol producers are warning fans of a scam artist who is pretending to be from the hit reality TV show and are hoping to keep their viewers from being victims of the deception. The person has been sending letters pretending to be from the show.
The letter states that the lucky receiver is the winner of a cash prize and even contains a bogus check. The winners are asked to call a phone number to claim their prize.
American Idolofficials say they are running no such contest and that anyone who gets such a letter should refer the matter to postal authorities.
