A new reality TV show called Tool Academy premieres tonight on VH1. From the title one might expect this show to be another home repair type show, but the show actually revolves around a different type of tool. The tools on Tool Academy are strutting, preening, over confident alpha-males.
Tool Academy is scheduled to run for eight episodes and will feature Jordan Murphy as host. Tool Academy will star nine unsuspecting bad boys, who will take part in a relationship boot camp. The guys were secretly nominated by their girlfriends for this honor. However, they believe they are merely participating in a competitive search for “Mr. Awesome.”
The nine bad boys will receive lessons in honesty, fidelity, maturity, and communication. Trina Dolenz will serve as their resident relationship counselor. Dolenz has run private practices in couples therapy in London and Los Angeles. Every week one of the bad boys will be dismissed as a hopeless tool. After the bad boy’s dismissal, he has to plead an appeal to his girlfriend to see if she wants to keep him or dump him. The last surviving bad boy receives a $100,000 cash prize along with the title of “Mr. Awesome.”
“This show carries the hope that buried deep inside even the world’s most incorrigible tool, there may actually be a good boyfriend waiting to be revealed,” said Jeff Olde, who is Executive Vice President of Programming & Production for VH1. “Sometimes all it takes is a little self reflection…and eight weeks of intensive TV therapy.”
